Billy was a large land holder and also owned slaves. At one point in time he determined to sell his land and slaves and move to Alabama however he died before being able to carry out his plans.²⁷

  • ii.  Adeline Masters - Born circa 1834 and Died 6 Feb 1922.  She is buried in McColgin Cem., Arcot, Clay Co., TN.  An early age affair involving Adeline and a man who may have been named Hampton resulted in the birth of William Palo Alto Masters.  There was never a marriage and William was raised by his grandfather James B. "Jim Pooch" Masters. ²⁶

    Family research note:  William Palo Alto Masters later married Zeda Amanda Christian, daughter of George W. Christian and Celina Fisk. ²⁵²  Their children would be technically shown as 9th generation: James Samuel "Sam", Viola Adeline "Addie" ²⁵² Esibus W. • iv.  Mounterville "Mount" Masters - Born circa 1823²⁵ and he Died before 1870 census was taken.   He married Sallie circa 1850.  She was born 19 Jan 1818 in butlers Landing, TN²⁷ and Died 4 May 1911 in Clay Co., TN.³⁰

  Mount Masters required amputation of his leg very close to the hip. The doctor preformed the surgery without the benefit of anesthesia. Mount's screams were so horrendous that Billy, Mount's father, never again believed in doctors. Billy gave the doctor his best saddle horse for payment of the surgery. Mount did not live very long after the ordeal and died a young man.²⁷

Masters - Born 12 Sep 1855⁹⁰ and Died 25 Oct 1895.  Burial in Hamilton Cem., Clay Co., TN.  Hamilton Cemetery is located a little over three miles south of Celina near the residence of J. M. Hamilton.  An inscription on his marker notes: "An honest Man the noblest work of God" ¹⁴² He married Lucetta who was Born circa 1855 in Tennessee.  Their Children were Olivia B. & William B. Masters.⁸⁰

6th Generation
• v.  Anderson Masters (William C. ⁵, Hillery ⁴, Robert ³, William W.², Robert ¹) ²⁹ - Born circa 1835²⁵ and Died 10 Aug 1915 in Overton Co., TN.  He died of "disintary" as a county inmate in the Overton County "Poor House".   William "Bill" Masters, son of Isaac Gore Masters claimed the body and buried him in an unmarked grave at Old Union Cem., Overton Co., TN.²⁶
